Concept Development

Integration– The teacher connects their game to phoneme blend content: “What blend is at the front of the word?”

Quality of Feedback

Encouragement and Affirmation– The teacher recognizes the child’s progress by saying, “It looks like you already got it.”
Scaffolding– The teacher guides children to learn the game. She gives them instructions and supports them by giving hints and assistance when trying the first round.

Frequent Conversation– The teacher engages in many back and forth exchanges with children.
Self- and Parallel Talk– The teacher describes what they’re doing verbally: “First, we’re going to put them in a little stack.”
